It's a.... baby!

So, I am way too exhausted to write a real blog tonight (It might also have something to do with the fact that House and Fringe are on in a few) so I will make this quick. We had a mini ultrasound yesterday and, much like his or her older sister lately, the baby was being uncooperative. So, even though it looked like it was "Dance Party Uterus" for our active little baby on screen, we couldn't get a good shot of the goods. So we won't know the sex of the baby until November 11th when we go in for our level II ultrasound. I'm hoping all is well with our little peanut and I'll update after the 11th. Until then... a little picture for you... aww, it's smiling.

I'ts a....

Girl! I think I kinda always knew it. I could only think of girl names, I always referred to it as a she, and I'm getting a ginormous ass. ( yes bigger than before) Scott and I are very happy to add a little girl to our family. I'll get some pictures of her up as soon as I can. She looks just like Oliver did. We're not telling any names, so don't even guess, you'll find out when she comes in February!
One of each. Perfect!

Bummers

Katie - February 2009

Bitches! I WAS going to find out the sex of my unborn child today, but noooooo, someone at the OB office called out sick. So tomorrow, I'm hoping. I'm a little bummed out. So I went to Target as I often do. I bought a potty chair for Oliver. I don't think it "fits" right, all the "pieces" don't align if you hear me.
This is my life!

Bring on the elastic waist! yeh baby!

We really should rename this blog the Slacker Sisters... there really is no excuse for us going this long without updating!
So my recent update was that I had a slightly disturbing and embarrassing visit to the OB last Friday. Don't worry, I will totally spare you the details (with the exception of the heart rate which is 160)... but let me just say that first, nothing is private or your own anymore when you become pregnant. I know every woman who has had a baby knows this... but I've been trying to think of something equally as mortifying for men... and I got nothin! And don't event think about suggesting that "cough" thing... that's is not even on the same planet as comparable! Anyway, I digress, this whole experience, 9 years after my first baby, has me reconsidering a midwife. I've actually talked to several friends over the last few days who swear they couldn't have done it without them. This does not mean that I will be giving birth at home (which is what my dear husband thought when I mentioned the idea)... no, from what I have learned so far, this means that in addition to my ever-attentive husband who will be at the birth, there will also be a more knowledgeable and empathetic woman by my side, the ENTIRE time. This seems like a very comforting idea to me. Don't get me wrong, I had a fabulous nurse with Alise.. she was warm kind and knew all the right things to say (and not to say) but she left when her shift was over and I got a nurse who apparently hates pregnant women and babies (I wanted to suggest she should re-think her profession, but I don't think that would have helped me in the long run). Anyway, I'll keep you updated on my decision. For now... we have another appointment in two weeks and then a level II ultrasound on 11/11. I am having this done because of Alise's health issues when she was born. (Another story for another time, or maybe not... I don't need to revisit this)

Anyway, moving on... Those who read my other blog know that I am a big fan of (and maybe slightly obsessed with) the daily comic site http://www.toothpastefordinner.com/ . So, I will leave you with this comic which pretty much sums up one of my only pregnancy-related woes. (um, I think we can replace "sacne and crackne" with "rackne" and call it a day on this one. What?... TMI?
